How We Refurbish Consoles
When we say that we "refurbish" consoles, we mean that we do the following:
- We thoroughly disassemble, clean, and test our systems.
- We repair or replace any missing or subpar internal mechanisms.
- We install brand new replacement parts when when it's appropriate in order to increase the longevity of the systems we're working on.
Some steps we take during our refurbishing process:
- Visually inspect and test the capacitors, replace any faulty units
- Proactively replace capacitors in each system that tend to fail over time
- Install and calibrate a brand new disc drive laser to increase system longevity
- Replace a system's internal clock battery to ensure proper date and time settings and the system's operation based on these settings
- Clean and repair the OEM pin connector on cartridge-based systems (we keep our pin connectors authentic and original whenever possible)
- Grease disc drive internal mechanisms
- Clean and oil cooling fan
- Replace any damaged or missing pieces to casing, whenever possible
- Thoroughly clean the system inside and out, including the motherboard, power supply board, disc drive or cartridge pin connector, fan, controller and AV ports, heat shields, and console shell/casing
- Apply new thermal pads or paste, as appropriate
- Replace screen LCD, lens, or touch pad on handheld systems when needed
- Replace speaker on handheld systems
